UX of Wikipedia Credibility

WikiUX takes a user-centred approach to address credibility. The project examines how end-users respond to different types of credibility signals, such as the structure of the page, tone of writing, and placement of citations within Wikipedia articles, as well as Wikipedia content that exists elsewhere on the web, such as within information cards on search and social platforms.

Who Targets Me are a small group of activists creating and managing a crowdsourced global database of political adverts placed on social media.

We were founded by Sam Jeffers and Louis Knight Webb in 2017 during the UK elections to monitor the use of online political ads in real time and provide analysis of their intended impact. The Who Targets Me plug-in has now been installed by over 30,000 users worldwide in more than 100 countries and 20 languages.

As far as we are aware, “What’s Crap on WhatsApp?” is the first show of its kind. We’re going to fight WhatsApp misinformation on WhatsApp in a format designed for WhatsApp.

Fact-checking organisations have traditionally tried to attract readers to websites, video and social media. But we’re taking our show to people on WhatsApp in a format widely used on the platform.

WeVerify’s aim is to address the advanced content verification challenges through a participatory verification approach, open source algorithms, low-overhead human-in-the-loop machine learning and intuitive visualizations. Social media and web content will be analysed for detection of disinformation; contextualised within the broader social web and media ecosystem; and misleading and fabricated content will be exposed as such, both through micro-targeted debunking and a blockchain-based public database of known fakes.

‘VISHVAS’ believes in following a logical flow in building its content. All our stories follow the same pattern. The idea is conceived with planning followed by development of the idea, then publishing and distribution, and finally quality check on the basis of facts, language, ethics and conduct. During the whole process, it is ensured that journalistic ethics are not compromised at any stage.

Verify-Sy platform is a media platform specialized in examining news and images and verifying information, and Verify-Sy platform seeks to achieve two noble goals: ensuring the citizen's right to obtain accurate and correct information, and contributing as much as possible to improving the performance of the Syrian media and upgrading it by displaying the imbalances that affect it.

Since December 2018, a group of media, journalists, social organizations and universities inspired by international experiences in the fight against disinformation decided that it was a good idea to get together to project a similar initiative to accompany the electoral campaign beyond what is usually done from the media.

We focus on two types of content:
- Rumors spread on social networks.
- Contents of public discourse (statements by politicians, candidates for government positions and leaders).

VERA Files is a nonstock, nonprofit independent media organization. Founded in March 2008, it is published by veteran Filipino journalists taking a deeper look into current Philippine issues. Vera is Latin for “true.”

The organization’s chief purposes, as embodied in its articles of incorporation, are to:
(1) Engage in the research, writing, production and distribution of news and other media products and related services in multiple formats, including but not limited to print broadcast and online, to advance excellence in journalism; and

Mission:
Determine the veracity of the political statements that refer to specific data based on their contrast with reliable sources. The site selects assertions of the most outstanding speeches on key topics and, based on a specific methodology, classifies them into categories.
