Radar is a project which uses a combination of algorithms and manual research to find posts related to three themes over a wide variety of social media platforms in Brazil. This allows Aos Fatos to map out the flow of disinformation and make predictions.

Kenya Election 2022

Leading up to and following the Kenyan election on August 9 2022, the Sentinel Project is expanding its previous work in the area, from Una Hakika to 15 of Kenya's highest risk counties. The project is monitoring, verifying, and countering the spread of harmful rumors and misinformation, and setting up an early warning system for violence.

I Am Here International is an apolitical, non-religious, non-profit international organization. Its vision is to create an internet without hate and misinformation to ensure and maintain a democratic and inclusive society.

Research and Education

Within the disinformation and memory studies direction, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) team is developing tools in several ways. Firstly, IDFI research historical roots and disinformation narratives that are weaponized in contemporary times. Secondly, IDFI develops academic courses that are offered to the students in schools of media and social sciences, and to representatives of CSOs and civil servants.

Malign Creativity : How Gender, Sex, and Lies Are Weaponized Against Women Online

Report striving to build awareness of the direct and indirect impacts of gendered and sexualized disinformation on women in public life, as well as its corresponding impacts on national security and democratic participation. The research defines, quantifies, and evaluates the use of online gendered and sexualized disinformation campaigns against women in politics and beyond.

Assessment of Online Risks for the 2021 German Federal Elections

A report analyzing the online environment and potential risks for the 2021 German Federal Elections. It studies topics ranging from online advertising, hate speech, disinformation and foreign interference. The end of the report provides recommendations for improvements and regulations in each category. 

Speak Up & Stay Safe(r): A Guide to Protecting Yourself From Online Harassment

A guide written by targets of cyber-attacks that is designed for women, people of color, trans and genderqueer people, and everyone else whose existing oppressions are made worse by digital violence. It details the best security practices for social media, email, online gaming, website platforms, ensuring the privacy of personal information online, as well as the documentation and reporting of harassment, and caring for yourself emotionally

Female Journalists in New Media Report

A report analyzing how gendered, online harassment of female journalists translates in the physical world. It uses qualitative experience to record experiences from female journalists in Pakistan and highlight the impacts of gendered harassment on women's careers and democracy. The report ends with recommendations to the state, media houses, civil society, and press clubs of Pakistan.

Name It. Change It. Research and Reports

Name It. Change It releases research projects and studies demonstrating gender-based challenges women face from the media when they run for office. In the past, they have published studies revealing where voters saw the most media sexism during the 2016 elections and conducted surveys on media coverage of women candidates’ appearance. The results of these reports continue to raise awareness about this growing issue and support their guides on best practices for gender-neutral coverage of women candidates.
