Radar is a project which uses a combination of algorithms and manual research to find posts related to three themes over a wide variety of social media platforms in Brazil. This allows Aos Fatos to map out the flow of disinformation and make predictions.

African Fact-Checking Alliance (AFCA)

The African Fact-Checking Alliance (AFCA) is a network of media and civil society organizations that work to counter misinformation. The network supports fact-checking missions to debunk dangerous content, including conspiracy theories and misinformation.

Kenya Election 2022

Leading up to and following the Kenyan election on August 9 2022, the Sentinel Project is expanding its previous work in the area, from Una Hakika to 15 of Kenya's highest risk counties. The project is monitoring, verifying, and countering the spread of harmful rumors and misinformation, and setting up an early warning system for violence.

Annir Initiative

Annir is a non-partisan digital initiative specialized in raising awareness about Media & Information Literacy and Digital Safety. Annir works on creating safer digital spaces for Libyan internet users through promoting the culture of verification, critical analysis of content on the network and encouraging responsible information sharing. Annir also conducts factchecking and reports local harmful content to social media platforms.

Nepal Fact Check

Center for Media Research – Nepal (CMR Nepal) is an autonomous, research and policy-oriented, not-for-profit non-governmental policy think tank registered with Nepal Government and Social Welfare Council  and is based in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

CMR-Nepal’s main focus is to enhance the knowledge content of policy making and media development by conducting researches aimed at informing Nepal’s policymakers and media stakeholders.

Research and Education

Within the disinformation and memory studies direction, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) team is developing tools in several ways. Firstly, IDFI research historical roots and disinformation narratives that are weaponized in contemporary times. Secondly, IDFI develops academic courses that are offered to the students in schools of media and social sciences, and to representatives of CSOs and civil servants.

Ethiopia Check

Ethiopia Check debunks claims and exposes fake news using its platforms on Facebook (52,000 followers), Twitter (7,000 followers) and Telegram (34,000 followers). Ethiopia Check also provides online tools for the public to check the authenticity of images circulating on social media and distributes an email newsletter to newsrooms across the country.

InformNapalm

InformNapalm is a volunteer initiative emerged as a response to the Russian aggression in Ukraine in March 2014.

It was started by journalist Roman Burko (Ukraine) and military expert Irakli Komaxidze (Georgia).

Now it unites the efforts of more than 30 volunteers from over 10 countries.
Our investigations are available for our readers in more than 20 languages.

Coalizão para Checagem – Eleições 2020 (Fact-Checking Coalition – 2020 Elections)

TSE coordinated a fact-checking coalition, comprising nine renowned fact-checking organizations from the media, named “Coalizão para Checagem – Eleições 2020” (Fact-Checking Coalition – 2020 Elections). The Coalition’s purpose was to verify the factual accuracy of information, news, and stories targeting the electoral process. It encompassed the work of around 100 individuals, including journalists from the fact-checking agencies and officers from the Superior Electoral Court and the 27 state-level EMBs (Regional Electoral Courts).

Liga Contra el Silencio

We define ourselves as an alliance that involves the media, a central newsroom and a network of freelance collaborators . We come together to investigate and disseminate journalistic stories on which a silence imposed by all kinds of censors weighs or that occur in places in Colombia where there are not enough media. We produce two types of publications: reports and interviews. Both are always disseminated on our portal and in the twenty allied media at their discretion.
