PoliDashboard

PoliDashboard is an app for tracking political advertisements on Meta-owned advertising platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. It is designed to help voters, journalists, campaign staffers and others to track the use of targeted ads around social issues, elections or politics. The data is automatically updated every day via the Facebook Ad API and is developed by the Social Media Lab based at Toronto Metropolitan University.

LupaMundi

An interactive map showing national laws to counter disinformation. The map allows different views, with filters by category, country and topic. LupaMundi also presents bills that are relevant to the geopolitical landscape.

Communalytic

Communalytic is a computational social science research tool for studying online communities and discourse. This resource uses advanced text and social network analysis techniques to automatically pinpoint toxic and anti-social interactions, detect bots, assess posts’ sentiments, identify influencers, map shared interests and the spread of misinformation, and detect signs of possible coordination among seemingly disparate actors.

Mnemonic

Mnemonic is an NGO dedicated to archiving, investigating and memorializing digital information documenting human rights violations and international crimes. Mnemonic also provides trainings, conducts research, engages in content moderation advocacy, and develops tools to support advocacy, justice and accountability.

Digital Democracy Risk Assessment: A User Guide

A user guide for civil society organizations and researchers to assess the vulnerability of a country’s electoral integrity to online manipulation. It also provides strategies for both parties to assemble reports based on a standard methodology and comparable datasets. 

Ethiopia Check

Ethiopia Check debunks claims and exposes fake news using its platforms on Facebook (52,000 followers), Twitter (7,000 followers) and Telegram (34,000 followers). Ethiopia Check also provides online tools for the public to check the authenticity of images circulating on social media and distributes an email newsletter to newsrooms across the country.

Countering Information Influence Activities: A handbook for communicators

The purpose of this handbook is to increase public communicators' awareness and understanding of information influence campaigns and develop their ability to respond. The handbook will help public communicators' to recognize common influence techniques more easily and provide them with a toolbox of proactive solutions that can be used to design the most appropriate response. This handbook does not provide a one-size-fits-all solution or a checklist of steps to tick off.
