Computational Simulation of Online Social Behavior (SocialSim) - DARPA
The goal of Computational Simulation of Online Social Behavior (SocialSim) is to develop innovative technologies for high-fidelity computational simulation of online social behavior. SocialSim will focus specifically on information spread and evolution. Current computational approaches to social and behavioral simulation are limited in this regard. Top-down simulation approaches focus on the dynamics of a population as a whole, and model behavioral phenomena by assuming uniform or mostly-uniform behavior across that population.
COMPROP Navigator
Since the Project on Computational Propaganda was founded in 2012, we’ve observed increased scrutiny being placed on governments and tech platforms to combat the problem of disinformation. With mounting pressure, these institutions have started to mobilize substantial resources to investigate and manage this issue. The development of useful tools and resources for civil society groups, however, has been slower.
Coalizão Direitos na Rede

Checkology
Checkology’s lessons and other resources show you how to navigate today’s challenging information landscape. You will learn how to identify credible information, seek out reliable sources, and apply critical thinking skills to separate fact-based content from falsehoods.
Checkology gives you the habits of mind and tools to evaluate and interpret information. And you gain an understanding of the importance of the watchdog role of the press.
Top journalists and digital media experts anchor the platform’s interactive lessons.
Check
Check was founded in 2011 as Checkdesk, and in 2016, the product acquired its new name. The Check project has worked to build online tools, support independent journalists, and develop media literacy training resources that aim to improve the investigative quality of citizen journalism and help limit the rapid spread of rumors and misinformation online. In addition to building software, they run workshops and panels, and they contributed to the European Journalism Centre’s Verification Handbook, edited by Craig Silverman, with case studies and an Arabic language translation.
[INACTIVE] Certified Content Coalition
The Certified Content Coalition certifies trustworthy publishers that meet fundamental standards, giving consumers confidence in journalistic content. CCC will implement a broadly accepted system to certify online publishers that meet minimal standards. The public will be able to have more confidence in news if they know the social networks and others are using this third-party system to downplay suspect news sources before they go viral...
Captain Fact
CaptainFact is a collaborative fact-checking tool for YouTube videos. People help each others to verify informations in this way:
1. Video is added on the website.
2. Statements are extracted from the video.
3. Fact-checkers confirm or refute the statements.
BotSlayer
BotSlayer is an application that helps track and detect potential manipulation of information spreading on Twitter. The tool is developed by the Observatory on Social Media at Indiana University --- the same lab that brought to you Botometer and Hoaxy.
Botometer
Botometer (formerly BotOrNot) checks the activity of a Twitter account and gives it a score based on how likely the account is to be a bot. Higher scores are more bot-like. Increasing evidence suggests that a growing amount of social media content is generated by autonomous entities known as social bots. Many social bots perform useful functions, but there is a growing record of malicious applications of social bots.
